Get ready for planning month

In October, APA will celebrate National Community Planning Month and the nationwide achievements of planning. Start preparing now! This year, APA asks members to focus on housing — a critical piece of community infrastructure — when they reach out to elected and appointed officials, media, and the public. Need ideas? Work with your mayor or governor to proclaim October as Planning Month, host a site visit to a new housing development, or talk with students about planning. APA's updated Planning Month Resource Hub will help you brainstorm.

POLICY AND ADVOCACY
The Farm Bill affects everyone

Have you responded to APA's August recess challenge to tell your elected officials to support the Senate Farm Bill? Planners are uniquely positioned to share why better food system planning, stronger rural economies, greater access to healthy food, and protected agricultural land and environmental resources are important for communities large and small. The APA Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, and Texas chapters and many individual members already have answered our call to action. Thank you!
