AICP College of Fellows Nominations

The AICP College of Fellows nomination process is biennial. Nominations are due during odd-numbered years.

How to Nominate

Nominations must be submitted in one of three ways*

  1. By the Chapter president
  2. By the Division chair
  3. By 10 individual AICP members

Chapter presidents and Division chairs receive lists of all AICP members eligible for nomination.

Assembling a nomination package that captures an exemplary planner's career requires considerable time and attention to details. Begin nominations well ahead of time.

The nominations period has ended.

Based on recommendations from the 2022 FAICP Selection Committee, the FAICP Pipeline and Nomination Guidelines Task Force and the College of Fellows Committee, changes to the 2024 Nomination process and guidelines have been made. The changes are aimed at increased transparency and to support APA's Prioritize Equity strategic initiative.

Number of Years of AICP Membership Required

The biggest change is lowering the administrative prerequisite of eligibility requirements from fifteen (15) years of AICP membership to ten (10) years while still requiring a rigorous set of qualitative criteria for consideration as a Fellow. Emphasis will be placed on helping eligible members understand that not everyone who is an AICP member has accomplished enough to be eligible for Fellowship after 10 years. Nominees and nominators should review the primary criteria to evaluate if a nominee qualifies.

Improved Submission Process

To make the nomination process easier and more streamlined, an online form for submission has been added to the APA website.

Nomination Toolkit

The College of Fellows Committee has collected tools that will serve as a resource for Chapters, Divisions and 10 AICP members when preparing nominations. The toolkit includes what the selection committee seeks in a nomination package, tips from successful nominators, and sample nomination packages of approved nominees (redacted).
